STAYTON, Ore.–  St. Paul’s James Davidson came a centimeter from  going to the 1A State Track and Field Meet for the Shot Put as a junior last Spring.

Now a year later almost, on the eve of his last District Meet at the Regis Community Twilight Meet Friday afternoon, the Buckaroo senior thrower has been taking that District result to heart.  Inspiring Davidson to put in the work to achieve his goals, finishing fourth in the Shot Put with a 39-feet-1.5-inch throw to go with a third-place finish in Discus in the meet.

“It inspired me to put in a lot of work in the offseason.  I didn’t do basketball so I can focus on Track and I think it’s showing off pretty well.  I went from 30’s this year to low-40’s and hopefully I can improve,” said Davidson.  “This sport has meant everything to me.  Without it, I don’t know what I would do without it.  It’s been one of those things where I used to be average at everything and I was able to set myself apart with this.

“It’s something I’ve been super passionate about and super excited about taking it to the next level.”

Davidson, who finished 12th in State in the Discus as a junior after finishing District Runner-Up in the event last year, will be heading to Corban in the Fall where he’ll be continuing his throwing career there with the Warriors.

“I’m super blessed to have four more years.  I couldn’t imagine life without Track and hopefully after that I can go into coaching and continue that legacy and continue my passion.”

Meredith Coleman finished fourth in the 100-meter dash. Ralph Pohlschneider finished fifth in the 200-meter dash, second in the 400-meter race.  Gracie Koch finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles.  Frank Pohlschneider finished sixth in the 110-meter hurdles.  Aundra Rose finished fifth in the Discus, seventh in the Shot Put.  Branson Cook finished fifth in the Triple Jump and seventh in the Long Jump. Ashur McClister finished seventh in the Triple Jump.
