A little bit of everything happened Thursday involving Salem-Area Schools. Wrestling, Basketball, Baseball and Softball. Here’s a little round-up of it.
6A Boys Basketball
McKay Boys basketball team snapped their 52-game losing skid with their 62-53 win over West Albany Thursday. Their last win was February 9, 2018, a 90-83 win over Sprague.
Sprague’s Camden McGrath led the Olympians with 13 points to North Salem’s Dominic Hughes 12 points in Sprague’s 64-25 win over the Vikings.
South Salem outduels West Salem 84-81 as South Salem’s Jasper Phipps scores a game-high 40 points in the game. John Breyman had 19 points for the Titans in the high-scorinf affair.
South Albany 59, Dallas 42. Matthew McDonald had 17 points to lead the Dragons
Corbett 69, North Marion 57
6A Girls Basketball
Maggie Lapray scored 17 points for South Salem and West Salem’s Diaz had 14 in the Titans 64-44 win over the Saxons.
Silverton 68, Central 23
Dallas 44, South Albany 34. The Dragons Erin Ericksen had a team-high 15 points. Hannah Calloway (12) and Faith Martin-Ball (10) each scored in double-figures.
West Albany 58, McKay 28
Cascade 27, Junction City 18
Amity’s Blake Runion starts his Senior Year 2-0 in the Warriors Home Meet Thursday.
Western Christian continues their incredible run on the diamond, taking down Monroe 9-6 to set up a rematch with Kennedy Saturday at 1pm at Scio High School. The Trojans came back to defeat Dufur/South Wasco County 2-1 in Mount Angel.
Cascade battled through three rain stoppages to defeat Gladstone 23-7 in Gladstone. Hannah Walliman and Jaimy Bangert each had home runs in the game. Kennedy edges Toledo 2-0 to reach the Saturday Semi-Final Doubleheader
