WILSONVILLE, Ore.–As he walked off the court for the last time after the OACA All-Star game, Tanner Scanlan represented the Green of North Marion one last time in his amazing Prep Career.
“It means a lot to me, I’ve gone through the school, all the way from Kindergarten and to be able to represent my team, the sport that I love, it’s a really awesome experience and not a whole lot of kids get to do it so I’m really gratful that I was selected and was able to be able to play with the top guys from all over the State.”
After scoring over 1,000 career points during his senior year in early January and was named to the first-team All Oregon West Conference team this year as well, being able to play in this game was something honorable to be able to do before it’s all said and done.
“It’s a huge honor, like I said to be able to represent my team to be able to go out competitively against the top guys out there, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience, you only get to do this once and your only in High School once and so it was awesome that I was able to do it,” said Scanlan.53
As for playing alongside some former competitors, like some from Philomath, it was cool said Scanlan as he prepares to go back into the gym to watch some of the other games happening at Wilsonville High School.
“There’s really not a word for it, I mean playing with guys from Philomath, it was nice to be able to play against your rivals.. you know guys you’ve played against all the way growing up, you grow up in the same area, you get to recognize faces and to be able to play against everybody, it’s a once-in-a-life-time experience, it’s a great honor,” said Scanlan.
