MOLALLA, Ore.– Amity sure did roll against the competition Thursday at Country Christian’s summer tournament, outscoring Out scored opponents 116-54 in wins over Fort Vancouver (of Washington), City Christian and Neah-Kah-Nie with the Lady Lions of City Christian challenging the Lady Warriors in Amity’s middle game in the 36-26 contest.
It was nice for the Warriors to build some momentum behind Morgan Croxford and Keeley Graham setting the pace, but it’s just a stepping stone for Day 2 of the tournament Friday.
“I feel like it was actually really good for us getting it done today,” said Croxford. “We’ll get better teams tomorrow to match-up to and I like how we got to get the younger kids in the last game too.”
A little bit throughout the day and against the Pirates especially, Amity were able to dip into their depth a bit and giving everyone some experience during the first-days action; and everyone from the first-starter on the court to the last-person on the bench came out and contributed well in the three wins.
“It’s honestly the most amazing thing ever,” said Hannah Hatch on the bench doing so well. “I mean it’s like we’re a family out there and it’s amazing.”
With games Friday at 11am, 5pm and 8pm, the trick will be resting up from these three-games for three-more and putting these games aside and while building from them at the same time.
“Well every game’s new and we got to put this one away, put it on the nice shelve and we’re going to come out tomorrow and go our hardest like we always do,” said Hatch.
“Hopefully we get good west in and keep our heads in and be ready to play,” adds Croxford.
