Scots Basketball Goes 4-0 In First Weekend Of Summer Ball

By Jeremy McDonald

SALEM, Ore.–Though it was rollercoaster-type of ride for the McKay Basketball team this first weekend of the Summer Basketball season.

But, through it all, it’s all just apart of building something special as they defeated in Crescent Valley and Hillsboro at Sprague High School Sunday to improve to 4-0 in the Summer Season:

For a Scots team that’s going to be Senior-heavy this upcoming season, having this much success is not just good for the seniors, but for the younger players who will take over for them next year, it’s something spectacular for their confidence.

“It feels great,” said Andre Tovar.  “Especially since it builds confidence for the new guys coming up, trying to fill spots.  I think it builds really good confidences for us for the next couple of weeks.

“It feels amazing because we’re all putting in the work and we got the good otucome of going 4-0.”

It’s certainly something as McKay has been overcoming the adversity and answering the bell whenever they can.

Whether it’s coming back from behind versus Marshfield or maintaining a lead over a team pushing back from behind like the Pirates and the Spartans did or their sound-wins in their other two games as they’re going through the growing pains that summer ball gives teams to pan out before the season begins in Mid-November.

As for now, it’s on to McNary Tuesday night where they’ll play Sheldon (5pm) and Corvallis (7pm) as they’ll continue to build from this weekend’s momentum.
