SCIO, Ore.– Gervais picked up three more placers in the 2017 PacWest Conference Championships in Elvis Vallejo, Natali Herinckx  and Jonathan Bartolo.

Vallejo, who finished fifth in the high jump with a jump of five-feet-two-inches, said finishing so high in his first year of track was awesome as he looks to build off this foundation with some hard work.

“It feels pretty good, it’s my first year ever doing it, so I feel pretty proud of myself,” said Vallejo.

Herinckx, who found herself just mere seconds away from moving onto State in the 800 meter race, describes the race as frustrating but liked how she pushed herself there at the end.

“I felt like I went pretty hard,” said Herinckx.  “I mean, while at the end I felt like I pushed myself as hard as I could, (but) during the race it was frustrating because there was a girl in front of that I was trying to pass but I just couldn’t and that was frustrating.”

To get over the hump Herinckx will get some extra training in that she didn’t this year due to not knowing if she wanted to do track this season, but knows to get to this point int 2017 is something special as she enter her senior season next year.

“Honestly, it’s a honor to be up there with those other girls and knowing that we just pushed ourselves and we gave it our all,” said Henricx.

Herinricx finished the 800 meter dash in 2:39.11, a season record for her.

Bartolo finished fifth in the 300 meter hurdles with a PR run of 46.46.
