AURORA, Ore.– Entering the fifth-inning, it was making it out to be a defensive dual between North Marion and Philomath with one run scored between the Top two teams in the Oregon West Conference with the lone run belonging to the Warriors.
For much of the game on the Huskies side, Griffin Henry and his defense bent but didn’t break with allowing a few hits but were clutch when the needed to be as their high-power offense was limited to two hits entering the fifth.
The Warriors slowed pulled away for the 5-0 victory over the next three innings to seal the OWC-Crown in 2017 and with two games left in the regular season versus Stayton on Wednesday and Cascade on Friday, North Marion find themselves in a dogfight with Newport (one-game back of North Marion) and the Cougars (two-games back of the Huskies) for second-place in the conference.
