SALEM, Ore.–  Some would say Districts time is ‘Pay Day’ of sorts as all of their hard work is going to pay off this weekend at the District Championships at West Salem High School.

The deeper you go into the bracket, the better chance you’ll have on making the State Championship where Top 3, Top 4 make it to the Big Dance.

For seniors Sctosman like Shane Tennis, it’ll be the last time that’ll put on the singlet and compete on this big stage.

“I mean I’m pretty nervous, not as nervous as my freshman year but I can feel it,” said Tennis.

Zair Ku Beiza, who’s entering the 195-pound bracket pretty high, is entering his first District Tournament as a freshman knows the stakes are high when they take to the mats Friday afternoon.

And you could tell that the nerves that Tennis had as a freshman, Zu Beiza has them right now.

“It’s really nerve-racking especially with the first seed person, I’m excited for it.  But it’s nerve racking especially,” he said.

As they exit their final practice before the big meet and aspirations of making it the the biggest stage of all in Portland next weekend, they’ll know they won’t trade battling for this school, this uniform once more.

“It’s going to be a brawl, it’s going to be a smart brawl, it’s going to be a very smart brawl,” said Cyrus Mora with much excitement.  “I just can’t wait for tomorrow.  Honestly, I don’t know if I’ll get much rest because I’m heck of excited.

“Just knowing to put on that one singlet one last time, it’s going to make me proud.  You know, I’m going to represent McKay the way it should be…like a Royal Scot.”

The first wave of matches start at noon Friday with them starting back up at 10 am on Saturday.  Both days are at West Salem High School!
