DAYTON, Ore.–The Streak Turns Nine Wednesday Night at home as the Dayton Girls Basketball Team turned a 8-6 lead early in the first quarter into a 36-12 lead over Sheridan by the halftime break behind a 28-6 run to end the half in the 56-21 victory at home in their second game in two days.

“I love it when we come out and play like that,” said Scott Spink on how his team performed on a back-to-back.  “Obviously as a coach, it’s hard to complain about that.”

Shawnie Spink hit back-to-back three’s as the junior finished with 19 points to get it going as Malina Ray added a quick lay-up afterwards to get the ball rolling with the run as the junior heavy squad improved to 15-1 on the season and 5-0 in the West Valley League with Santiam Christian on tap now on Friday as both teams look to end the first half of league strong.

“Well tomorrow we’ll take the momentum with how we’ve been playing to Friday’s game,” said Spink.  “We’ll have a good practice tomorrow, worry about Santiam Christian and the things we have to do and our game plan against them and we’ll be ready to go on Friday.”

The Eagles (10-3, 5-1 West Valley League) defeated Westview Christian 57-33 Wednesday as they look to hand the Lady Pirates their first league loss since January 29 of last year as Dayton travels to Santiam Christian for the 6pm tip.

LADY PIRATE SCORERS-  Spink-19.  Rojas-18. Cisneros-8.  Moore-4.  Myers-3.  Ray-2.  Bowlin-2.
