AURORA, Ore.–This preseason has been a tough one for the North Marion Lady Huskies.

But they’ve answered the bell.

Well, they did that again Tuesday Night versus an 11th-ranked Molalla team that was averaging 55 points a game entering the game, but you were surprised when you saw the final:

North Marion 48, Molalla 26 thanks, in part, to a familiar face leading a ever confident defense with Hannah Kinniburgh leading the charge.

“We had a very solid defensive effort tonight and rebounded very well.  Hannah dominated on the boards and we played really good team defense, holding Molalla to 13 points at half,” said Head Coach Trevor Bodine.  “Molalla was averaging 56ppg coming in and we held them to 26 tonight…We gave up 4 points in 3rd quarter and 9 in 4th.”

Not bad, but they’ll definitely would need that defense against a Blanchet Catholic team that’s averaging 58.8 a game,  and know how to pull off big time victories as they did versus Top 3A-Ranked team in Salem Academy last Tuesday, handing the Crusaders their first loss in 12 games at that point.

That game will be on the road, in Salem at the Cavaliers home as North put their winning streak to the test in one of the final test of the preseason.

Tip off is at 6pm.

HUSKIE SCORERS-  Kinniburgh-15, Verastegui-11, Jimenez-5, Umbenhower-4, Dron-4, Wing-3, Brooks-2.

BOYS BASKETBALL-  North Marion defeats Molalla 67-35 to improve to 8-2 on the season.  The Huskies will host Blanchet at 6pm at North Marion High School.
