AURORA, Ore.–They keep finding ways to win Basketball games!
In yet another overtime game, the North Marion Lady Huskies found a way to win their eight-straight basketball game to improve to 9-1 on the season as they took down the fourth-ranked team of all of 5A, South Albany, 47-45 Tuesday night.
“We had a solid defensive effort against South Albany’s (Divison-1) Oregon State verbal recruit. We forced her into a lot of off balance contested shots which was our game plan,” said North Marion Head Coach Trevor Bodine. “She finished with 30, but 16 were at the free throw line and she was the benefit of a very controversial call late in the game that sent it to OT.”
Emily Scanlan and Bethany Dron limited the Rebels star athlete with stout defense as their defense held South Albany’s scorers at bay with 15 points as in overtime, it came down to the wire.
Kyia Brooks came down with a big rebound that resulted in a Ally Umbenhower laid it up after spreading the floor and attacking the hoop; and to deny a possibility for double-overtime or a Rebel victory, Lindy Wing got the crucial block as time ran out to seal the victory for the Huskies.
North Marion will look to extend their streak to nine Thursday as they travel to Junction City with a 7:45 tip.
