ASTORIA, Ore.– 5A’s Sandy has a tendency to keep opponents in check as they entered their Astoria Tournament opener versus North Marion from the 4A level.
But, the Lady Huskies has a way to spoil team’s plans with tough play and sharp shooting; and after a slow start as they grew accustom to what the Patroits was throwing at them as North Marion hands Sandy just their second-loss of the season as the Huskies won their fifth-straight game.
“They played well after the first couple minutes. It was a physical game, so after we adjusted to that and got a little tougher and more aggressive, it went well,” said Head Coach Trevor Bodine. “We passed the ball well and found the open players with an extra pass when needed.”
Hannah Kinniburgh scored a team high 20 points and Ally Umbenhower added another 14 in the 50-32 win as North Marion faces Rainier at 1:30pm in the second round of the tournament.
