TURNER, Ore.–  After their tough game versus Central Monday, you saw some tiredness with the Lady Cougars as they took to the court again Wednesday versus Gladstone.

Though fatigued and tired, Cascade got the job done Wednesday night to improve to 5-0 on the season with a 51-35 victory over the Gladiators.

“I liked how we preserver through everything,” said Halle Wright.  “I mean our shots weren’t falling, we were kind of slow getting going, you know I just thought we were tired espically after that Central game.  I just like how we preserve through everything and just kept it going.”

Wright had a team-high 14 points in that game.

5-0, something that has been accustomed by the Cascade program by now through the years, and it feels incredible said Mariah Hollenbeck.

“It’s unbelievable,” said Hollenbeck who scored five points Wednesday after her 13 point performance Monday.  “I mean it all comes from practice and pushing ourselves to be better, staying together as a team.  Team is everything.”

Now though other teams will be competing at Cascade High School, the Cougars will be taking some off as they heal up and prepare for Valley Catholtic next week.

Hollenbeck just says that it’s just more practice in preparation for then.

“It wasn’t that disappointing,” said Hollenback about only having one game of their hosted event.  “It just means more practice and more practice the better.”

For Wright, she knows that to keep the tradition going, it begins from within themselves.

“We just have to stay humbled, got to have a sense of pride,” she said.  “I hate bringing up the State Championship game, but we always have to use that as an example and remembering how it felt.  And by just doing that, staying humbled and playing hard like it’s our last game every time, that’s going to make us push through.”

The mentality of a champion, always staying hungry and wanting to always be better; it’s hard to top that!
