Farler Announces 2016 Recruiting Class for Corban Softball

SALEM, Ore. – Corban University head softball coach Abigail Farler announced the 2016 recruiting class for Warrior Softballon Friday afternoon, naming six players that would be joining the Warrior ranks for the upcoming 2017 campaign.

“I am so excited about the group of incoming freshmen we have arriving this fall at Corban,” said Farler. “They are a very well-rounded, athletic group who will compete on the field. I am looking forward to the growth and future of Corban Softball!”

Samantha Woodley – 5’ 7” – Catcher/UTL – Toutle Lake High School – Toutle, Wash.

Hailing from Toutle, Wash., Woodley comes to Corban after a highly accomplished high school career. While collecting League MVP honors during her junior season, she led her team to the State Championship during her freshman, sophomore, and senior campaigns. During her senior season, she hit for a .571 batting average to go with 10 home runs, nine doubles, and two triples.

In addition, Woodley collected First-Team All-League plaudits during her sophomore and senior seasons, and Second-Team All-League honors during her freshman season. On top of softball, Woodley was a First-Team All-State player on the basketball team, and was named the League MVP on multiple occasions.

Woodley plans to major in Exercise Science with the intention of becoming a Physical Therapist.

Mikaela Francisco – 5’ 7” – Catcher/OF – Moses Lake High School – Moses Lake, Wash.

Coming to Corban from Moses Lake, Wash., Francisco garnered First-Team All-League plaudits as a catcher in 2016, and was named an Honorable-Mention All-League honoree in the outfield in 2015. During her time at Moses Lake, she led her team to four-straight League and District Championships. Additionally, she played for the USA Explosion team that was a competitor at the 2016 ASA 18U Gold Nationals Championships.

Francisco plans to major in Health Science with the hopes of becoming a Pediatrician.

Kasie Kloempken – 5’ 7” – Catcher – Montesano High School – Montesano, Wash.

Kloempken joins the Warriors after collecting Second-Team All-State honors during her senior campaign while leading her team to the Fastpitch State Championship during her junior year. During that run to the state championship, she also collected Honorable-Mention All-State plaudits.

On top of softball, she was also an All-League goalkeeper for the soccer team and garnered Volleyball All-League honors as well.

Kloempken plans to major in Political Science at Corban.

Kelsi Christenson – 5’ 7” – Infield – McNary High School – Salem, Ore.

Following an accomplished high school career, Christenson joins Corban looking to make an impact with the Warriors. While slugging .856, hitting 10 home runs, and totaling 40 RBI in one season, she now holds the single season and career home run records at McNary High School. In addition, she also holds the single-season RBI mark and single-season slugging percentage record. She collected All-State honors once, and All-League plaudits three times during her high school career.

On top of high school ball, she also played for the Oregon Panthers and the NW Batbusters, qualifying for ASA Nationals twice.

Christenson plans to major in Criminal Justice with the intent of becoming a Crime Scene Investigator.

Sabrina Anguiano – 5’ 7” – Infield – Ramona High School – Riverside, Calif.

Hailing from Riverside, Calif., Anguiano comes north to play with the Warriors beginning in the upcoming campaign. As a First-Team All-League honoree on multiple occasions, she was named the Athlete of the Year in 2016 and the Citrus Belt Area Athlete of the Year during her senior season. While boasting the third-highest batting average in her league during the 2016 campaign, she also collected All-Academic honors during every year she played.

On top of high school ball, Anguiano played on the Cal A’s 18U Iseri, leading her team to the Champions Cup Championship. Moreover, she was an All-League Basketball and All-League Volleyball player during high school.

Anguiano plans to major in Exercise Science with the hopes of becoming an athletic trainer.

Jensen Kirkwood – 5’ 7” – Infield – Newport High School – Newport, Wash.

Kirkwood joins the Warriors after a solid four-year high school career at Newport High School. While playing on the varsity team all four years, she also competed on the volleyball team, for three years and both the soccer and wrestling teams for a year each. During her time on the softball team, she garnered Second-Team All-Conference honors. In addition, she competed for the WA Angeles Fast Pitch Softball team, winning the State Championship twice.
