STAYTON, Ore.– For the Canyon Crushers, they were there with it with the Withnell Dodgers in their three-game series against one another.
Tuesday’s game at Willamette University saw a 10-9 result, Game one saw four errors against the Crushers as Withnell jumped out to a 3-0 lead.
But Canyon capitalized on five Cameron Jolly walks to cut a 8-4 lead to 8-7 entering the sixth inning.
The Dodgers weren’t done yet as 2014 North Salem Gradute Alex Roberts sent one over the Regis Green Monster to ice the 10-8 win.
Game two was more of a slugfest, hard-fought 6-3 win in favor of Withnell.
“We played hard, I believe that we could’ve beat that team,” said Canyon Crushers’ Noah Tavera. “We just made a lot of errors. We just got to battle. I think our hits will come it’s just that we got to come together as a team and make less errors.”
Tied at 2-apiece Noah Boatwright and Cole Hamiliton gave the Dodgers the lead they won’t relinquish, but it wasn’t without a fight.
“It’s always good to break out the brooms and get a sweep but lately we’ve been playing against ourselves,” said Withnell’s Cole Hamiliton. “We’ve made too many errors. We hit the crap out of the ball, we just beat ourselves in the field and we’re solid everywhere in the field no matter who we put out there, we just beat outselves.
“Today, our bats came through so that’s all we could’ve asked for. It’s a big confidence booster because we’re on a little bit a winning streak so we’re going to try to keep it going a little bit.”
