SALEM, Ore.– The Forest Grove Boys Basketball dominated in all faucets of the first half en route to a  61-39 over McKay Friday Night.

Behind suffocating defense, winning the rebounding game and hitting their shots offensively, the Vikings lead the Royal Scots 40-15 by halftime.

“We didn’t come out with a lot of effort,” said sophomore Khyler Beach on the first half and game. “It was not the best night we could have had and we were missing a lot of shots.  It was a bad night.”

The defense held the Forest Grove offense in tack in the third quarter but couldn’t get anything going offensively in the second half until the fourth quarter.

“We just kept missing shots, and then when we missed shots we get done on ourselves,” described Beach on the struggles. “Then we started to play bad because we don’t have a lot of energy.”

To get back on track after a tough week that featured being on the wrong side of a buzzer beater Tuesday, said McKay Head Coach Dean Sanderson,

“We got to do something better than we did tonight, that’s for sure,” he said.  “We’ve done that all year.  We’ve been going into a really good direction, and then fell on our face and that’s what we did tonight and good teams don’t do that.

“So we’ve got to figure that out.”

Beach added that, as the team now turning their focus to West Albany on Tuesday night at home, that they just need to get back to work in order to get the positive vibes going again.

“We just have to get back and work at practice, and focus on our next game at West Albany,” he said.
