STAYTON, Ore.— The Stayton High School Girls Basketball team finished the 2015 calendar year strong Wednesday night.
Following their 49-33 loss to Seaside Tuesday that dropped them into the third-place game, the Eagles responded for a 44-36 win to finish in third-place in the SCTC Holiday Tournament.
Hungry, and finding themselves in a dogfight with the Gladiators down 21-15 entering the second half, Stayton responded with a 14-8 third quarter to take the lead entering the game’s final frame leading Gladstone 39-29.
The defensive stranglehold continued into the fourth quarter for the Eagles by allowing seven points as the Stayton offense added 15 more points to ice the win and take third-place in the tournament.
