AURORA, Ore.— On paper, the OSAA 4A Semi-Final game between North Marion and Sisters Boys Soccer is slated to be a battle.
The Huskies will go into Sisters High School as the number three team in the playoffs, the Outlaws two. Both have high power-offense, Sisters with 65 goals on the year and North Marion at 87.
Defense is also at a premium in this game with both teams not allowing more than 12 goals all season, (the Outlaws with seven, Huskies with 12).
Despite the task at hand, the North Marion mantra has always been the same.
Take it one, day at a time.
“We’re talking with (our) players not see beyond one game at a time,” said Huskies Head Coach Rafael Palaez. “It is the way they are concentrating on these playoff, nothing beyond a game.”
North Marion will need to focus on the here and now if they want to reach their end result and return to the State Title Game versus the winner of Stayton/Henley Saturday in Hillsboro for the defense, and possible repeat, of their 2014 State Championship.
“As for reaching the final for the second consecutive year,” said Palaez. “Well we can say is that we hope to fulfill that dream but still nothing until we get there.”
Kickoff for the Huskies Road-Warrior game is slated for 2pm at Sisters High School in Sisters.
