TUALATIN, Ore.— Following their 45-14 loss to Sherwood, the OSAA 8th-ranked Tualatin Timberwolves (4-1, 2-1 Three Rivers League) look to rebound against Canby (2-3, 1-2 TRL) Friday night at home.
The 45-14 loss should serve as motivation for the T’Wolves as they were held to 14 points and 211 yard in total offense, permitted 12 tackles for losses on a offense that has scored 40 points a game and 400 yards a game as a offense prior to the game.
Not to mention that their defense allowed 356 yards and 45 points from the Bowman offense that has typically scored no less than 35 points a game this season.
Leading the way for Tualatin is Chase Anderson at Running Back. The senior has 343 yards and three scores to go along with 270 yards from Grant Nielsen this season for the Timberwolves. Their rushing attack accounts for an outstanding 273 yards a game!
Defensively, Tanner Hall is a tackling machine with 47 tackles, but it’s Jared Ellisen who leads the team in sacks with six per MaxPreps.
The team lining up against them, the Canby Cougars, are looking to break even in the TFL win column and are sitting fifth in the standings; a full game behind Tualatin.
The Cougars are just as hungry for a “w”, having lost two in a row entering Friday night’s matchup, a 38-17 loss to Tigard and 17-7 to Lake Oswego after sound wins against Roseburg (27-7 on September 4) and Lakeridge (46-0 on September 18).
Canby is led by senior Running Back Tanner Monen, who has 310 rushing yards this season with five rushing touchdowns. Tony Kraus is the leading tackler for the Cougs with 35 tackles and six quarterback hurries from his defensive end position.
JMcDonald’s Prediction: Tualatin by 14. Canby will keep it close during the first half of the game, but the T’Wolves’ running game will wear down the Cougars in the second half for the win.
