CORVALLIS, Ore.–  The bats of the Post 20 Dirtbags stayed hot Friday morning at the Mickey Riley Star Spangled Tournament at Corvallis High School against the Michaels Toyota Bears of Seattle.

The second day of the tournament saw the Dirtbags jump out to a 7-0 lead entering the fourth inning with four runs in the first inning in their 12-2, five inning win. Improving to 2-0 in the tournament and third-straight in the process

West Salem-grad Tyler Rock led the offense with 3RBI’s on two hits,   The Titans Aiden Rock collected two hits in the game with West Salem’s Trey Ward and Dallas’ Bennett Cresswell each driving in two runs for the Dirtbags.  Taking advantage of the green light they were given to put the bat on the ball, executing when they had it and it paid off.

“When the coach has the confidence in you to give you the green light there, you’re looking for your pitch and not missing it.  Getting your best swing off and catching the barrel,” said Tyler Rock.  “It’s huge to play clean baseball.  It’s really easy when you can hit and when you don’t make any errors.  It’s really a great part of our team because the pitchers get the ball in play and we get to back them up.”

Once again, they played a complete game as their defense once more pitched a clean sheet in the win.  Sprague’s Grant Moyer had a no-hitter going through three innings and had only surrendered two hits while striking out four, continuing his strong game from Sunday in Forest Grove into Friday.

“It was awesome that my defense was definitely solid today and yesterday,” Moyer starts.  “Just stay cool, calm and collected when you’re making a play.  Not stressing about it, not thinking about it and just doing it.  We just got to keep the bats going and just keep our defense sharp, that’s all we got to do.”

Post 20 closes out Pool Play Saturday at 1pm at Corvallis High School.
