ASTORIA, Ore.–In one of the most ugly games of the year for the North Marion Lady Huskies, they found their clutch factor late in Overtime against Rainier to advance in the Astoria Tourney.

“It was a very ugly win for us.  Lots of unforced errors on our part which is not typical for us,” said Head Coach Trevor Bodine.  “Disappointed with that but in the end,  we battled through adversity and came out the other side in the correct side of the win/loss column.  We should learn a lot from this game and when it counted, we stepped up and Hannah (Kinniburgh) and Ally (Umbenhower) hit some clutch free throws.

“Rainier was good and well coached.  We will have to be much more mentally focused tomorrow with more aggressive attitude.”

Kinniburgh finished with 15 points and Umbenhower added another nine as the Lady Huskies won their sixth-straight and await Thursday’s tournament finale, and to finish the tournament strong, the girls need to stay mentally focused said Bodine.

“We just need to be more mentally focused,” he said.  “Need to be on more of a schedule tomorrow because we have a lot of sitting around prior to our game.  Proper rest, game prep/film session and believing we can win.  We just seemed out of it today from start to finish.”

HUSKIE SCORERS:  Kinniburgh-15.  Umbenhower-9.  Verastegui-7.  Wing-5.  Brooks-3.
