STAYTON, Ore.–  No one would’ve guess the route the Stayton Eagles Boys Soccer Team will have to take to get back to their third straight 4A OSAA State Title game in 2016 when the season started early September would start with a Play-In Game and not waiting until November as they did in years past.

Though slow out of the gate, they found their groove entering the second half, but it came down to one goal.

Head Coach Chris Shields was displeased with how his team came out Saturday afternoon.

“We need to finish,” said Shields.  “We came out flat, uninterested and didn’t seem to care if we won or not.  Guys really need to want to win and want to create at this level of play.  We can’t allow teams that are not at are level to stick around and last we did.”

The Eagles did manage to pull out the victory within the last two minutes of the game when David Gomez lifted the Eagles with a goal to send them to Brookings-Habor Wednesday with the game-winner at about a minute-and-a-half, 1:40 left in the game.

If they win, they have a possible match-up for revenge versus Sisters; but if they want that, they have to get through BH.  Time is yet to be determined for the match-up.
