SALEM, Ore.—There’s always something about the Homecoming game.

The community comes together.  Families, friends, alumni all gather to see what the school has to offer come Friday night.

“It was great, these guys are working hard in the classroom, on the field,” said 2016 Graduate Tristen Wilson. “You can tell that they’re in a lot of these games, this year and I’m really proud of them, they’re leaving that legacy for the next group to show that they’re going to work hard and that they’re going to be in a lot of these games.

“So it’s pretty cool to see. I’m proud of them and I can’t wait to continue to watch.”30

The stands were packed full of Scotsman faithful as McKay took on West Albany Friday night for the Homecoming game, and the players took full noticed.

“It’s just good to see that people care about what we’re doing, they care about the hard work we’re doing,” said Ryan Bangs.  “People, not just them, but other people notice what we’re doing too.”

The Scots took a 6-0 lead entering the half and almost had another field goal before it was called back as the Bulldogs took a brief 7-6 lead in the fourth quarter.

McKay kept battling and though the game didn’t go their way, Wilson adds that the seniors are leaving a legacy of hard work as his class did the year before.

“The legacy, everyone needs to be shown first how to work hard and these guys are being shown how to work hard and staying in these games,” said Wilson.

“You got some of the hardest working guys, Matthew Jarding, Manny Miranda and Noah Tavera, some of the hardest workers in the program and they are showing the younger kids how to work hard and how to leave their legacy and how to be successful next year and how to actually trust the program and that’s really good to see and I’m proud of all of them.”

With Bangs and the rest of the freshman through juniors, they know what the message that Jarding and them are leaving behind is hard work as they prep for Glencoe next Friday.

“We just got take away the positives and work on the negatives,” said Bangs.
