SALEM, Ore.–  Cecilia Munoz was a force to be reckon with barely a day following the Powderpuff game at McKay High School, but this time against their nearby rival of North Salem in a soccer game.

Down 1-0 with roughly 15 minutes to go in the match, Munoz would tie the game up off a corner kick from her knee.

The Lady Vikings would knock in a pair of goals five minutes later, but Munoz had numerous runs and shots to keep hope alive for the Lady Royal Scots Thursday evening on the road.

“Cecilia has had a great season so far and is still showing it on the field,” said Head Coach Arturo Alfaro on his senior forward.  “Probably the player of the match in my opinion if not one of the best performance she has had.”

Munoz wasn’t the only one that had a great game said Alfaro.

Jackie Macia and Lucia Gabriel had great games in the midfield.  Karen Deip, Monica Macial played outstanding defense, stopping the North Salem offense on good pushes Alfaro mentioned about his team.

“Overall the girls never gave up and truly sweat everything they had on the field,” Alfaro said.

Alfaro knows his girls need to step up a bit more when as they look to McMinnville Tuesday at McKay.

“If we take the lead we play a bit more defensive but when opportunity come to score we need to take them,”  said Alfaro.  “Regardless of the score, we go 100% and stay positive and play our hearts out and that’s exactly what we did today.

“For the girls, knowing that no matter what happens they will always push each other to get better and support one another. And that makes me feel very confident and proud that we will fight till the end.”

Kickoff for Tuesday’s game is at 7pm
