SALEM, Ore.– Wednesday marked the second push for the McKay Royal Scot Cross Country team when they hosted West Salem and McNary at home turf.
The Scots Boys Varsity team showed off their speed and talents in the Varsity 5K, finishing second to the Titans (15) with 54 points. Juan Heredia (19:39.8) and Erick Brambila (19:59.7) finished seventh and eighth behind six West Salem runners that included winner Ahmed Muhumed (17:18.9).
Jonas Honeymoon and Cameron Garrison from McNary polished off the Top 10 in the race.
West Salem took eight of the Top 10 spots in the JV Boys 5K with the Celtics Zach Roth and Issac Matthew’s rounded up the last two spots.
Sophomore stud Jose Barocoio of McKay finished two seconds behind of Matthew’s for 11th place.
West Salem (36) won the highly contested Women’s 5K race with McNary (40) and McKay (45) with the Celtics and Scots having two racers apiece finishing in the Top 5 of the race.
McNary’s Kailey Doutt (20:42.8) winning the race. Jaden Mandal of West Salem (20:59.5) finished second, Celtics Emma Garland was third (22:46.7).
McKay’s Hanna Caldwell and Jesse Garcia finished four, five with times of 23:23.5 and 23:29.2 respectively.
Xena Lane of McNary took the top spot in the Girls 5K race with a winning time of 25:55.8 followed by West Salem two, three and Crystal Corral of McKay rounded up the Top 5 with a time of 29:51.5
