SALEM, Ore.– The McKay Royal Scots sure did give West Salem a run for their money Friday Night at West Salem High School to open up Josh Riddell’s tenure as Head Coach.
From the get-go, McKay jumped out to a 10-0 lead thanks to the foot of Adolfo Lua-Anaya from 30 yards out after a nice drive thanks to Matt Jarding and Noah Tavera who contributed nice plays on the drive before the Scots added a touchdown to their lead.
But errors allowed the Titans to cut McKay’s lead to three by halftime, 10-7.
West Salem would take the lead in the second half, 14-10. But that was short-lived as Tavera set up a go-head drive with about two minutes to go in the game.
With the Scots up 17-14 and with the game winding down, a few questionable calls happened that allowed the Titans to mount a game-winning drive for the 20-17 victory on the Black Turf known as ‘The Black Hole’.
