SALEM, Ore.– In a interesting turn of events Saturday North Salem is now playing the Australians in an elimination game at the DeMarini Wood Bat Tournament Sunday Morning.
Rex Putnam, the team who the Perth Heat was supposed to play after RP defeated the Vikings a 5-4 Saturday afternoon, had to pull out of the tournament because of an injury to their catcher.
So now the host has become the enemy. The Guest has become the enemy.
But both sides are excited to play one another for a chance to have bragging rights.
“I think it’s a good opportunity for us because we befriend some of these guys so it’ll be a fun competition-type thing and we’ll be able to root for each other if the other moves on in the tournament,” said Vikings Cameron Kallhoff.
“It’s exciting, we were talking about it that it’ll be cool to play each other. then you saw them lose, ‘ah naw what happen there’ but we’re playing them sweet, hopefully we can get the win and we’ll know about it forever,” said Perth Heat’s Jacob Rizio.
First pitch for this epic Showdown between Host and Guest is scheduled for 9am at Schaefer.
