SALEM, Ore.– North Salem baseball has been on a rail since the last time they played McKay High School.
In their first game versus the Royal Scots, the Vikings were 2-5 in the Greater Valley Conference and were just sitting one-game ahead of McKay for last place in the conference.
But, with their 5-4 victory on April 25, the North Salem Baseball team has only lost twice in their last eight games as they compete for an At-Large Bid for the playoffs.
“We are playing as a unit and group, giving up of any individual interests,” said Viks Head Coach Chris Lee. “The group has really bought in together and are willing to do whatever it takes for the success of the team.”
As it’s a rivalry between these two North Salem team’s, Lee knows that his team need to come out strong against the Scots since they’ve been slow out of the gates recently.
It is important to come out strong since we have been starting slowly lately,” said Lee. “We want to come strong to set a tone for the game and our program. It’s always important to compete, regardless of the situation. We call it “playing the game within the game.”
First pitch is at 5pm at Schafer Stadium in North Salem.
