TURNER, Ore.– Though a forfeit in a 2-2 tie, a win is a win.
For 50/70 Intermediate Head Coach Chris Brown and his Nine, they challenged the short-handed State Champions West Salem 50/70 Intermediate Squad. Dylen Wolf pitching a solid six innings while permitting one earned run as they were on the receiving end of the forfeit.
“They did great,” said Brown on his team. “(I’m) really proud. Super proud of how they are learning to play as a team. Great group of young men.”
The group of 12 and 13 year-olds turned two double-plays and were down 2-1 at one point in the game before having a steal at home that knotted up at two before darkness ended the game.
Brown enjoyed how his team came together and the progression he’s seen from his players following the opening game of the season.
“As a coach it makes you feel great that the boys want to learn and play baseball the right way and learn fundamental baseball,” said Brown on his team.
Up next for Brown’s team is on the road for a Friday match-up against the Corvallis Black team in Corvallis. First pitch is 6pm.
