CENTRAL POINT, Ore.– How North Salem picked up win number one of the 2016 campaign was epic to say the least.
Behind Cole Hamilton’s 4-4 day that featured two doubles, a triple and accounting for six of the team’s 15 runs, the Vikings shutout Milwaukie 15-0 in five innings.
North Salem tore the game open in the bottom of the third inning with six runs and followed that up with eight more in the fourth as the Mustangs couldn’t prevent the ten-run rule from being put into use.
The team also saw four players with Stolen Bases and a combined 12 strikeouts from their pitching staff.
Game two, however versus Westview, the Viks struggled to muster the same success with only getting three hits in 8-0 loss Wednesday afternoon.
Cameron Jolly gave up six earned runs in his start, but picked up two strikeouts and Will Tsukamaki, Noah Boatwright and Sean Alvarado all picked up the hits for North Salem.
The Vikings will have one more game in Southern Oregon before coming back to Salem when they meet-up with Grants Pass at noon Thursday.
