Gresham, Ore.- Under windy conditions at Gresham High School this St. Patricks Day, the North Salem High School Track and Field team open their 2016 campaign by splitting with the Gophers in the Boys and Girls Division.
VIKINGS BOYS 79, GOPHERS 57-
Abel Sandoval won the 1,500 and 3,000 meter races for North Salem High School with times of 4:37.52 and 10:16.67 respectively. Ton Swank was also a double winner in the 100 meters (13.04) and the Triple Jump (37-06.75) down at the Frosh/Soph level.
Quillie Bonner won a tight battle in the shot put by six-and-a-quarter inches over Gresham’s Jose Rojas.
Other notable winners for the Vikings at the Varsity level are Dylan Rejerson (200m), the 4×400 meter team of Abraham Rodriguez, Manny Botello, Adam Foreman, Dylan Reierson, Jason Backer in the High Jump.
The Vikings also saw six winners in the Junior Varsity Level.
GRESHAM 78, NORTH SALEM 55-
Aracely Garcia-Chavez won the 400 meter race in 1:10.84 with Madison Willhoft winning the 1500 and 3000 meters in 5:19.62 and 11:28.40 respectively for the Lady Viks.
Manya Mendrin, Rebekah Miller (Varsity Long Jump and McKayla Wilson (Pole Vault, JV Long Jump) .
Sabrina Sanchez (JV Discus) also won Thursday afternoon.
