Eleven games into a young 2012-2013 season and the Southern Oregon University Lady Raiders basketball team has already cracked double-digits in wins heading into finals week.

After the first weekend of conference play the Raiders (10-1, 2-0) have entered the tail-end of the weekend with two impressive victories.

Friday had the Raiders going up against Northwest Christian.  The Beacons had at one time had a 17-14 lead before the Raiders went on a 8-2 run late in the first half to build a 38-30 halftime lead.

The Raiders didn’t look back as their lead grew to one point a 66-49; 17-point lead with 7:51 left in the ball game.

But Northwest Christian used a 9-2 run to cut the Raider lead to nine with 5:44 left in the game and trying to make a it a ball game again, 67-56.

Southern Oregon responded with a 10-4 run to go up 77-64 with 1:44 left to seal the eventual 79-68 victory.  Alexi Smith had 13 points in the game for the Raiders.

Game two of the weekend on Saturday had Southern Oregon traveling to the Oregon’s state capital of Salem to face Corban University.

Santa came early for the Raiders this December as Southern Oregon dropped 49 points and 59.46-percent in the second half to roll to an easy 18-point victory over the defending CCC-Champion Warriors, 92-74 and improve to 10-1 on the season.

Junior guard, Allison Gida led the Raiders with 10 points and five assist on the day.  Junior forward Melissa Sweat recorded two blocks.

It won’t be until next Saturday in which Southern Oregon will play again.  Once again taking to the road to Redding, California to face Simpson University then to California Maritime Academy in Valliejo, California in a rematch of the season opener in Novemberon Sunday.
