At 5-3-2, the Southern Oregon University (5-3-2, 1-0-1) soccer team is going on the road this weekend currently in third place in the Cascade Collegiate Conference.
Just two points behind in-state rival Oregon Insitute of Technology and Northwest Christian University in the standings, they are heading away to Ashland this weekend to face Warner Pacific on Friday and Concordia of Oregon on Sunday.
The Raiders are facing the sixth-place Warner Pacific (1-6, 0-1) this Friday, the Knights are struggling this season as they have five total goals this season compare to the 22 that the Raiders have put up at this point this season.
Defensively, the Knight have allowed 31 goals this season, and the Knights have been outshot 148-29, both playing into the hands of the Raiders.
But as Coach Clement had told me, they are going to respect their opponents regardless if 0-7 or 7-0.
Concordia (7-0-2, 1-0) is currently fourth in the standings heading into this weekend, just a point behind the Raiders, and is expected to be a tough test for the squad from Ashland on Sunday.
The Cavilaers, whom is always the favorite to win the conference during the past decade, have outscored opponents 18 goals to four, they hold a shots on goal adavantage of 163-45.
Defensively, they have allowed three goals all season. That’s a goals ratio of 0.38 a game.
The Raiders are 1-17 all-time against Concordia with the sole victory coming in 2001. Heading into this game, senior forward Stephanie Carr is currently one goal away from tying Katie Emerson’s career goals record of 32. Goalie Kelly Clement has already clocked 600 minutes in front of the net this season.
The Raiders are facing Warner Pacific at 1 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. on Sunday when the Ladies in Red face Concordia.
