Steroid, HGH, testosterone shots.
All have been forbidden among st the major sports and Olympic levels to promote proper and fair competition.
Even though everyone likes and wants this ideology of “fair and even”, a few players don’t follow this philosophy.
More so in Major League Baseball.
Within the last week, Right handed pitcher Bartolo Colon of the Oakland Athletics and Outfielder Melky Cabera of the San Francisco Giants both have been suspended both for 50 games for illegal substances. Both were for testosterone-related substances.
In 2012, we have seen five major league players suspended for steroids. Since 2005, 31 players have been suspended for illegal substances at the major league level.
This doesn’t count the countless suspicious’ on athletes like Mark McGuire, or older players having break out years like Derek Jeter.
Since other leagues implemented such sanctification on their players, it has either decreased or been steady. But in Major League Baseball, these numbers have fluxed, if not it has been increasing. You would expect these numbers to go down after a while, but they haven’t.
Some players, like Manny Rameriez have been caught but were crazy enough to retire to play elsewhere so he won’t be punished for what he had did, (even though he did come back, serve the suspension and tried to play again, but retired once he realize he can’t play like he did once before).
I mean, if you want to play, don’t cheat; if your going to cheat, then expect to pay the fines, the suspension, whatever. be prepared to pay the consequences behind it. Don’t complain about how “I didn’t do it” or “I don’t know what your talking about, the test is wrong” or even pull off what Sammy Sosa did and say “I don’t speak English” and then turn around and appeal it; because 99-percent of the time, you are going to lose.
Funny thing is, after these players are caught and serve their suspension and/or pay their fines; most of them don’t play to the level as they did prior. I wonder why, because illegal substance’s do help your performances to play better, to lift more, to go faster, so on and so forth.
It’s difficult to cap steroid and illegal substance usage in sports, that’s why were doing it. To make it even. If you don’t like it, go play elsewhere because they are a few international or smaller leagues nation and world wide that don’t push this issue as much as some athletic organizations like Major League Baseball or the Olympics.
