I was reading this article about the NBA’s Chicago Bull’s superstar, Derrick Rose getting fined 25 grand for a harmless call about the referees calling fouls in his favor.  I find this to be a bit ridciulous.

This is what was said, and I’m quoting the article from ESPN.com,   “I’ve gotta be the only superstar in the league that’s going through what I’m going through right now,” Rose said, referring to lack of foul calls in his favor. “But I can’t say too much about it.”

There wasn’t any blasting of the refs, calling them names or anything of the kind in that.  I’ve heard a lot worst.  It seems like the NBA and other sports (because we’ve seen it in other sports as well), are taking away athletes and coaches first amendment rights on opinions on ref calls, coaching calls, league changes, etc.

I’m all for fining players, coaches and GMs for dropping f-bombs and putting someone on blast for something stupid.  Teach them a lesson to watch their mouths and think for a change.  But we’re talking a harmless comment and opinion about, “hey I wish the refs would’ve called a few more fouls.”

Also to there’s players like a Dwight Howard that can’t keep it PG-related whereas Derrick Rose has never really complained about anything.

Simple right?  It’ll save everyone time and money by clarifying that as long as you keep it PG-related then your ok to voice your opinion about something.  I don’t see why athletes and such have to watch their mouths because we as fans are thinking and saying the same thing in those stands we pay a butt-load of money for and from the comfort of our homes.
