After 20 days of being down in California, I finally found a job and started it.

Heading into this week I was still checking in on apps to nothing more than, “Come back tomorrow,” everytime I went to check.  I was wearing street clothes, proper interviewing attair, everything under the moon to get a look and hurry up the process a little bit.  No luck.

Well, during this process of me during this, my aunt was asking around and telling me that she’ll help out once she gets everything on her end settle down with work and sending my cousins off to college.

I came home from looking up apps and working out at 24-hour fitness back on Monday (squatted 260 twice, benched 195 once and power cleaned 145 twice…not big numbers but still pretty nice though), when my aunt told me I had a job interview over at 7-11 the next morning at 10:30

Oh cool finally getting a crack, a chance with someone for a job.  It was either swing (3-11) or graveyard (11pm-7am).  I was hoping for full-time at swing shift.

Good thing was this was a corporate 7-11 and not a franchise one.  The difference that was explained to me by my aunt was that corporate 7-11’s gives its employees benefits, vision, health, dental whatever (and how much is different depending on your full-time or part-time status’ at the place).  At a franchise 7-11, you’ll be lucky to get any benefits because the employer has to pay outta pocket for you.

So the next day rolls around.  Got my job interview clothes on and walked on over.  The 7-11 is about a five-minute walk from where I’m staying at.  I got there 10 minutes early because it’s good to be early at something like this, and I walked in and asked for the manager because I had a interview at 10:30 and the clerk went and got the manager for me.

I felt like it went well, we clicked I believe.  He told me they were only hiring for graveyard, either part or full-time.  So I applied for part-time for graveyard. And he told me afterwards that he’ll contact me tomorrow with a offer or not.  I was outta there at 11:00 or so.

The next 24-hours took forever it seemed like, but by 11:30 on Wednesday, I got a call with an offer of employment.

I was fucking jacked.  I finally got a answer outta someone for a job and I finally got a job.  I was schedule to come in on Thurday (today) at noon to start some training and fill out paperwork.

All I got to say is that paperwork sucks even though its necessary and got my uniform today, (technically just a shirt).  I stayed there today from 12 to three.  I’m suppose to go in tomorrow (Friday) from 12-3, then Saturday morning till I get done with everything and I’ll be out on the floor by Monday morning, (the manager wants me to work with him in the mornings til I learn the ropes…then I’ll be working graveyard as early as two weeks).

I’m still jacked about it, its money towards possibly getting my own place one day.  Now I’m trying to get in contact with the San Mateo County Times to see if they still need me to cover the Burlingame/Saratoga game on Friday night.

Gotta stay positive…Legendary Status
