No luck yesterday.

I decided to swing by 24-hour Fitness yesterday in Sunnyvale to talk to an manager about seeing if they had a change to look at my application.  She was in a meeting so the person at the front desk took down my contact information and said that she’ll give it to the manager once she’s done and she’ll get back to me later.  No luck there.

So what was one of the reasons why I came down here?  Besides trying to keep the life support system on my future in journalism, there is more opportunity in the job market down here than it is in Central Point/Medford, Oregon with the size different in the areas per square miles.  Jackson County (where Medford is) has 207,010 people to it over 2801 square miles, (about 73.9 people per square mile), where as Santa Clara County has about 1,781,642 people as off 2010 over a 2,000 square mile area, (about 890.8 people per square mile).

The difference is that, besides population, is that Jackson County is out in the open and with the struggling economy and Oregon’s decision to cut its timber industry (which is the equivalent to the technology-rich area of Santa Clara County and the Silicon Valley), it has helped the county to have a 10.9% unemployment.  In Santa Clara county, its 9.2%.  But, from what I’ve noticed while being down here everyone has a job and it’s hard to believe that number compare to the 10.9% of Jackson County which is hard to believe since it seems like everyone is hit and miss with jobs there.  I know its the same everywhere, but that’s just me though.

Going back to the job searching thing.  Just real briefly on yesterday some more, after the 24-Hour Fitness visit, I came back to the house and started applying to more writing jobs up and down the south-side of the Bay Area.  I haven’t heard back from them yet but I’m hopeful.

So, my plan of attack today is to go cash in this three-day pass at 24-hour fitness, maybe finally talk to a manager; then go to Mountain View at about 1 in the afternoon and looking up my application at the YMCA over there and maybe get a application for Play It Again Sports over in that area.

Gotta stay positive and keep going.  Legendary Status.
