SWEET HOME, Ore.–  Regis’ Clara Persons had a lot of years of Track and Field in her up to this point of her career having done the sport since Middle School.  But the Meet of Champions was a first of its magnitude that the freshman has ever endured and competed in until Saturday at Sweet Home High School.

But nonetheless, Persons rose to the occasion and finished ninth in the 400-meter race with a time of 1:04.23 and was 15th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.51.  A good experience as the Rams prepare for the Stayton Invitational and the Regis Twilight Meet the next two weekends in helping her settling down her nerves on the track.

“It’s going to help me with handling nerves before the race and be more calm.  It’s nice because going to State would be cool, but you gotta keep your nerves under control to do good,” Persons said.  “Just continue to go to practice and sticking with it.”

Josh Blish finished with a fifth-place finish in the High Jump with a six-foot jump, a PR for the senior.  Blish also finished 11th in the Triple Jump.  Mac Parrish debuted in the Long Jump with a jump of 15-feet-8.75-inches and was 19th in the 200 meter race.
