SALEM, Ore.– This has been a fun season for South Salem’s senior Alex Decrozuic as he capped off a strong 6A Central Valley Conference District Title run at 220 pounds. Pointing towards his work ethic and taking everything one match at a time, one tournament or meet at a time. All while working on the little things like tweaks on top position and riding a little bit tighter in the process as he turns his focus onto the 6A State Wrestling Meet.
“Fun. A lot of fun. I like coming out wrestling and that’s pretty much it. I just like being here,” South Salem’s Alex Decrozic said following his first-round pin Saturday afternoon at North Salem High School to start the Central Valley Conference Tournament. “Just working hard, that’s what it’s ever been for me. Just work harder than everyone else and good things will come to ya.
“The goal as it always has been, win a State Championship and do the best I can. Taking it one-match-at-a-time. I don’t like worrying who my opponent is, I just like going out there and doing my thing. If I beat them, I beat them. If I don’t, I don’t.
Decrozuic finished fifth in last year’s State Tournament at 195 pounds as he and Anton Chacon (160) both won District Titles for the Saxons with Gabe Osorio (195), Isaac Harrell (160) were District Runners-Up for South Salem.
