KEIZER, Ore.– Entering his senior season, McNary’s Jackson Alt knows how much this Keizer community has meant to him up as the Celtic football program wrapped up their Youth Camp Wednesday evening at McNary High School.
“Seeing some guys like Tanner Walker and seeing some others going through this program, go Division-1, it makes you want to do it. It’s dreams and you got to follow them you know? It’s everything. It’s what keeps them playing, it’s mostly fun at some point though it gets serious. You got to put in the work, but you got to have fun too,” starts Alt. “(The Camp) was great. A lot of kids showed up, which we need and it’s amazing. Super cool seeing all these little kids having fun, that’s what football is all about, so it’s a great time,”
It was a nice break from the daily grind of Summer Training in preparation of the season ahead. Just being able to put their feet up and hang out, all while sharing the game that they love with the kids aging from five years old to eighth-graders the past three days.
“Oh man, it’s just great. I love seeing the kids out here, getting better every day and coming to this High School. I like seeing the kids out here putting in the work,” Jake Allen said.
“It’s pretty cool to see the future. I had a good time just teaching them. I had a great time out here, I know the kids had a great time,” adds Ben Allen.
For the High School McNary squad, their first official practice starts August 15 with a jamboree on August 26 at Tigard and their first game of the year September 2 at Lakeridge.
