MEDFORD, Ore.– It was a tough day for the Withnell Dodgers in the Coach K Memorial Tournament Saturday, but the squad finished stronger than they started. Rebounding from their tough 15-0 defeat to the Chico Nuts to falling in a close 6-4 game to Reno at North Medford High School.
“The first game was definitely rough, I didn’t think we were there…we were somewhere else. In the second game we kind of woke up,” South Salem’s Cole Weiland said. “There were a few costly errors and a couple extra bases that shouldn’t have happened, but I definitely thought we played better. So that second game was a lot better than the first one.
“We’re going to learn what we had today, with the errors we had today and tomorrow I think we’re going to come back and play complete baseball.”
Weiland went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Rylan Webster (Western Christian), Brady Muth (Sprague) and Taylor Brenneman (Sprague) also drove in RBIs in the game. Withnell wraps up the Medford Trip Sunday morning against the LV Vegas Aces at North Medford High School.
