CORVALIS, Ore.– North Marion’s Callie Cutsforth, Willamina’s Hadley Hughes and Walker’s Dominic Angulo were some of the same local Salem athletes competing in the tenth-annual Meet of Champions in Corvallis Thursday.
Here’s some local highlights:
Girls
800-meter- North Marion’s Callie Cutsforth finished fifth in the event with a PR of 2:26.17.
1500-meters- North Marion’s Callie Cutsforth finished second in the 1,500-meter race with a time of 4:51.15. Walker’s Avery Meier (5:00.60 PR) and Straub’s Mia Rasca (5:00,74 PR) finished sixth and seventh respectively in the event.
4×100 Relay- Silverton’s team of Lexi Enzenberger, Chloe Brooks, Sofie Baldridge and Brooklyn Schurter finished third in the relay race with a time of 53.25.
Shot Put- Mount Angel’s Madalynn Ehren won the shot put with a throw of 40-feet-3-inches. Willamina’s Hadley Hughes was third.
Javelin- Amity’s Kylie Wilson PR’d with a throw of 105-feet-7-inches, finishing fourth in the event and Willamina’s Hadley Hughes was fifth with a throw of 105-feet-3-inches.
Discus- Willamina’s Hadley Hughes finished second (88-feet-8-inches) in the event. Talmadge’s Anna Cole PR’d in the Discus with a throw of 80-feet-1-inch.
Long Jump- Amity’s Eliza Nisly PR’d in the Long Jump with a jump of 16-feet-1.75-inch jump as the eighth-grade finished second.
Boys100-meter- Crosshill Christian’s Josiah Hawkins (Seventh-grader) finished third with a 11.67 second time.
400-meter Straub’s Jarett Peil PR’d in the event as the eighth-grader ran a 54.77 second lap as he finished fifth in the event.
800-meter- Stayton’s Jerry Gallion was seventh in the event with a 2:11.73 PR.
100-meter hurdles- Crossler’s Carter Lovell and Houck’s Tyreon O’Nel finished sixth and seventh in the event, separated by .02 of a second. Lovell ran a 15.13, O’Neil ran a 15.15.
Shot Put- St. Paul’s Sullivan Grott (45-feet-7-inch PR), Walker’s Dominic Angulo (42-feet-6.5-inches) and Cascade’s Bryce May (41-feet-11.50-inch PR) finished third, sixth and seventh respectively in the event.
Discus- Walker’s Dominic Angulo finished second in the event with a 134-feet-9-inch PR.
Javelin- Mount Angel’s Jaden Traeger (138-feet-8-inch PR), Amity’s Maeson Mendez (132-feet-9-inch) and Cascade’s Bryce Kuenzi (131-inch-4-inch PR) finished fourth, sixth and seventh respectively in the event.
