SALEM, Ore.– The Chemeketa Community College Men’s Basketball team jumped out to a 61-42 halftime lead in their first game since January 19 on Linn-Benton Community College Saturday afternoon at Chemeketa Community College in Salem.
The Roadrunners however, took advantage of the three-week lay-off of the Storm to start the second half. Pulling back to three of Chemeketa, 73-70, during the opening ten minutes of the second half only to see the Storm roll back out to a 85-75 lead at the 8:48 mark. Using a 12-5 advantage to their favor.
Linn-Benton was not done yet as they chipped away at the lead and stayed within a possession down the stretch as Chemeketa held on for the 100-97 victory, their first NWAC South Region Win of the season and snapping
Javuan Jones led the Storm with a game-high 34 points. Chase McClain (19), Jaden Stanley (17), Sprague’s Mason Lomax (14), and James Hodge-Green (10) all scored in double-figures. Kye Blaser led the Roadrunners with 22 points. Scio-grad Garrett Workinger contributed four points and six rebounds off the bench for Linn-Benton.
Women’s Basketball
Linn-Benton jumped out to a 28-15 lead going into the second quarter to set the pace in the Roadrunners 58-45 win over Chemeketa to start the Saturday doubleheader in Salem. Brooklyn Hankwitz led Linn-Benton with 15 points, St. Paul’s Mary Davidson contributed with two points. South Salem’s Ellyson Haytas led the Storm (7-7, 2-4 NWAC South Region) with 12 points
