Kicking Off The Season

SILVERTON, Ore.–  The Silverton Girls Basketball team returned to the court Monday evening looking to build off of their 11-1 Spring season from just a few months ago.

On top of that, they only lose one from that team.  Granted it’s a big hole with Truitt Reilley graduating to Western Washington University, but the six-week season gave those filling the holes from the previous season’s playoff run an opportunity to mesh together entering more of a normal season this year.

“I felt like that was good for us to have all together because last year we lost one and it was a big one.  We’re all super close together and we’ll be able to grow even closer together,” Paige Traeger said. “I felt like we ended high and it was kind of upsetting that we didn’t get to have a State torunament.

“I felt like we still have that same momentum and the same goal that we didn’t get to accomplished last year that I feel like it’s going to drive us to try to do great things this year.”

Carly Von Flue, Kalyssa Efimov, Rowan Reilly, Lilly Horner and Traeger were some of the returners in attendance in Monday’s official kickoff to the season.

Horner and Traeger will be the two seniors on this year’s squad as they’ll start with a gauntlet this season with eight games between December 1 and 22 before wrapping up preseason play December 29 against Cascade as they wrapped up the first day of the season.

“It’s been pretty awesome getting back into the gym.  I think we all have something to work on and we’re going to be working really hard and make this season a really good one,” said Horner “We’re rearing to go. Super excited for the season
