SALEM, Ore.– West Salem carried over the mojo from their 4-0 victory over to Wednesday’s match-up against Westview for their second-straight win, winning 2-0 over the Wildcats.
Westview entered the game 4-1 on the season and challenged the Titans during the first half as it looked to be a 0-0 draw going into the halftime break before Lauren Duke handed West Salem a 1-0 lead going into halftime.
“We all came in with a real positive attitude and we were all mentally here, ready to work and I think that paid off for us. We’re working as a team and that’s going to help us in the long run this season. We’re going to take this confidence and momentum and bring it into all of our future games.” Anna Emerson said.
The ‘Cats were a change of pace than Franklin was back on Monday, bringing the intensity and pressure that West Salem adjusted to. Natalie Cunningham made some crucial saves in goal to preserve the then one-goal lead, only to see Emerson give her and the Titans a 2-0 lead in the 57th minute.
Cunningham and her defense continue to make the stops over the final 23 minutes of the game to hand Westview their second defeat of the season and West Salem their second win of the season with Sherwood Monday to close out the preseason.
