STAYTON, Ore.– Incoming Regis Sophomore Max Eaton was on a rail Sunday afternoon at Regis High School for the American Legion Single-A Silver Falls Bandits. With his Ricky Vaughn look on the bump, Eaton struck out nine Redmond batters in six innings in the Bandits 12-2 win in six innings.
“Just focus in and pound the zone. Doing it with my catcher Korbin (Wedding) and go to work one pitch at a time,” Eaton said. “As a pitcher, your job is to go out and play defense and when your offense backs you up with good hits and runs, it’s a good feeling. The 2A guys like Korbin and Luke (Holland), just representing it’s good.”
Wedding, a Kennedy Senior-to-be, drove in 4RBI’s Sunday. Holland, also a Senior-to-be at Blanchet Catholic, drove in another 3RBI’s as Silver Falls travels to Bob Brack Stadium Monday night for a 6pm start for a doubleheader. The Bandits will look to play spoiler for the Marion Berries who are battling neck-and-neck with the Ole Athletics of Eugene for the Single-A District Title.
“We got to play some high-quality baseball. Everyone has to be dialed in, we all have to be focused and everyone has to bring their game,” Eaton said of Monday’s doubleheader.
Wedding, Holland and Blanchet’s Hunter Archer each contributed two hits in the victory.
