SALEM, Ore.— Wallace Marine Park entered the Memorial Day Weekend with the first day of the 14U and 16/18 Memorial Day Salem Invitational Saturday, and as the first day came to an end, Central’s Peyton Foreman and Kaitlyn Brian were splitting time at first base for the Bat Company 16-Gold team.
The squad was playing in the 8pm nightcap game against the Frost Elite 18U team and were in a compelling game coming down the stretch. Defense played soundly as Rylee Rehbein and Haley Wadsworth combined for nine strikeouts in the 3-1 BC win.
“We knew coming into that game knowing things were going to get switched up so we all could get playing time. All see different places; all see different pitchers and I think we did a great job adjusting to having a different pitcher and having different people in the infield. It was great all together,” Foreman said.
Brian got on board in the fifth off an error, worked to third through a single and a stolen base before attempting to take home on a bunt.

She wasn’t able to complete the score, but Bat Company did retake the lead that inning before adding to it in the sixth as Wadsworth closed out the game. Pitching three innings of two strikeout ball in relief.
