St. Paul’s Payton Saucy hit a Grand Slam while Western Christian’s Sydney Fahndrich, Scio’s Blake Brown and Yamhill-Carlton’s Wyatt Hurley all had good pitching games in Tuesday’s action around the Greater Salem-area.

Here are some results from the area.

6A Softball

Olivia Borzy and Callie Stubbs hit home runs in Sprague’s 4-3 defeat to South Albany on the road Monday.  Sophia Honse struck out 12 in the game.

3A Softball

Yamhill-Carlton spoils Amity’s Senior Night, taking the game 13-2 as the Tigers improve to 12-4 on the year.

Scio 14, Blanchet Catholic 8

2A Softball

Western Christian’s Sarah Halgren (Five) and Sydney Fahndrich (four) drove in a combine 9RBI’s in the Pioneers 15-2 win over Gervais.  Fahndrich also struck out 11 in five innings.  Trinity Bastidas had 2RBI’s for the Cougars.

Payton Saucy hit a Grand Slam home run to help lead St. Paul over Molalla JV 14-3 at home.  Saucy and Mary Davidson each drove in 4RBI’s and Gracie Koch struck out seven in the win.

Santiam pushed Kennedy to just their second seven-inning contest of the year in the Trojans 8-0 victory in Mill City.  Jenna Hopkins had 16-strikeouts for Kennedy, the Wolverines Maddie Forste broke up the no-hitter bid in the seventh inning.

Colton over Sheridan 14-4 in five innings.


Scio’s Blake Brown struck out 11 in a complete game effort and Garrett Young went 2-for-2 with 2RBI’s as the Loggers improve to 10-2 on the year.  Blanchet’s Spencer Kowalski struck out five in four innings.

Wyatt Hurley struck out 11 and was 2-for-3 with 2RBI’s in Yamhill-Carlton’s 13-1 win over Amity.  The Warriors Colby Nyseth drove in the lone run for Amity in the defeat.

Dayton 17-6 winners over Horizon Christian of Tualatin.
