BEAVERTON, Ore.– The only thing that could stop the 2021 Region 9 Gold Qualifiers -16 & 18 tournament this weekend was that Oregon Spring weather. Here’s some highlights on how some of local Salem kids did:

NW Vandals 16U-Vasas-  The squad went 5-1 and were up on the Oregon Blaze 16A 7-6 when the game was called.  McNary’s Lacey Vasas had 15 strikeouts and drove in 6RBI’s on 3-for-8 hitting.  South Salem’s Rowan Thompson had 13 strikeouts.

Panther freshman Kaitlyn Brian showed why she’s going to be a big bat for Central this season.  Hitting a pinch-hit three-run home run in the fourth inning against the Oregon Blaze, going 2-for-3 with a walk, single and a double with her 2RBI’s against the Gorge Thunder and hit the game-winning hit against the Hillsboro Diamondbacks Sunday as a member of the Bat Company squad.
