Salem, Ore.– Wednesday brought Senior Night in a unique set-up across Salem as the six Salem-Keizer schools ran a 3,000-meter race in their ‘dual’ set-up in the Salem-Keizer Dual Meet #3 race as each team honored their Seniors before going to Minto Brown Park and Bush Park to close out the Cross Country short-season.
Here’s a round-up of the action:
South Salem/McKay
South Salem went first to eighth in their dual with McKay. Evan Gonzalez won the 3K race at 9:04.90. McKay’s Jose Miranda was the highest Scots finisher at 10:44.34. The Scots Jazmine Liebl, Sydney Haines and Kaydence Nguyen went one, three and five in their dual with the Saxons. South Salem edged McKay in points 27-32, Zoey Hock and Paige Trautman finished second and fourth respectively as the Saxons placed seven in the Top 10.
Sprague/McNary
Sprague’s Tucker Piper and Milano Cedillo-Rodriguez went one-two in the boys race while Connor Roop, Benjamin Standley and Brennan Whalen rounded out the Top 5. Sprague’s Sara Abbott won the girls dual with the Celts in 11:17.5, McNary’s Aspynn Westby was second at 11:48.9
West Salem/North Salem
In a unique split heat races at West Salem, the Titans Blake Johnson and Ryan Griffin each won their heats on the guy’s side. North Salem’s Elizabeth Hernandez won Heat one of the girl’s races in 11:49 while West Salem’s Olivia Moye took Heat 2 in 10:40.44.
